Here at St Margaret Ward School we are keen to not only increase parent's awareness of how our children use the Internet but also help parents support their childrens' internet use and keep them safe. The following two websites are particularly helpful for parents as they provide information and advice as well as links to additional sites.

There are many more excellent websites for parents and children and these are just a few to get you started. Simply click on the address to link to the relevant site.We have also compiled a short list of useful websites for both parents and children which can be printed from the linked page.

We have close links with our three Catholic secondary schools, Blessed Thomas Holford, St Ambrose and Loreto and during the year, we welcome the Headteachers from all three schools when they come to give an informative talk to the parents of children in Year 6. We can recommend their websites to children and parents alike.
On Friday 8 February 2008 four of our Year 6 children were invited to Blesssed Thomas Holford College to take part in a Maths Challenge with three other primary schools - St Vincents, St Hughs and St Josephs. The '24 Game' involved answering maths questions for points and when the scores were eventually added, our St Margaret Ward team had the winning score of 36.
Well done to Hloniphile, Faye, Emil and Amir who were awarded certificates and a trophy for their excellent maths skills.

As part of their programme of community and transitional links, Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College once again invited a group of our Year 5 for five afternoon sessions during the spring term.
The children developed their own powerpoint presentations using the excellent facilities of the BTH computer suite and proudly displayed printouts of their slideshows back in class..

Family Learning Course
To enhance the learning opportunities and information we already offer to parents to help them support their child's learning, we invited the Trafford Family Learning Team into school. They worked in school with Nursery/Reception parents and children for a series of six workshops and provided a creche for pre school siblings.
These sessions involved parents looking at how their child learns, how children learn through books, how to make a story box and lots of other fun educational activities.
The course was well attended and feedback from parents has been positive. We are hoping to offer other workshops in the next academic year for parents of older children to help them support their children with homework.

The Trafford CYPS Parenting Handbook is available as a downloadable pdf file and can be accessed by clicking on the link.

A copy of our School Admissions Policy is available free of charge from the office and is also accessible by clicking on the link.

The Freedom of Information Act requires publicly funded bodies, including schools, to be clear about the information they publish. We have produced a publication scheme setting out all the information we publish on a regular basis and where to find it. A copy of the St Margaret Ward School Publication Scheme is available free of charge from the office.
